Jot Press

A creative print studio I find interesting is Jot Press, founded by Dan and Becks Jennings in 2016. Their primary focus is crafting and working with tactile papers to create beautiful, impactful designs that take a project and make it a real experience.

Choosing sustainability-sourced material for its texture and weight and feel makes an experience for the user. Techniques that they use, such as die cutting, blind embossing, and foil blocking. For me, when a special finish is applied, it allows the brand experience to come alive. Their work for Davy Dooms inspires me, as such a simple blind emboss on the three letterforms on the business card really stands out and elevates the design to be intentional and allows for some user interaction.

The collaboration between the client and Jot Press allows for clever decisions to be made to allow for a much more tactile experience. They have a very high attention to detail across their work, and this is something I can look to achieve across my own work, as you can see how the small details matter when the outcome is produced.
