DixionBaxi
DixionBaxi is a London-based design agency founded in 2001 by Simon Dixi and Aporva Baxi. What draws me to this agency is their admiration for designing for people and with intent. In an interview with Creative Boom, Simion says, "Design for life." "We want to design for everyone, everywhere"—Simon Dixion. Their strong set of values allows them to focus on what is right, not just regarding design but also what is right for the people.
A recent project that grabbed my attention is the Remix book. This book gives an in-depth investigation of the agency with over a thousand images of design, photography, sketches, and ideas, layered with unfiltered dialogue, raw process, and two decades of shared creative energy. This gives us meaningful information into how the studio is run and gets into ethos and the power of creativity. This book is very interesting, as it is something to be explored, and so much knowledge could be gained from listening to designers' insights and experiments on things that did and didn’t work.
I also have been inspired by the design of this book. The strong use of the lime pantone green across the cover and inner spreads adds energy to the pages and makes a unique printed artifact. I have been inspired by the typography choices and layouts for my own projects. They feel well considered but are busy and sometimes overwhelming, like studio life.
