Main Studio

On a recent trip to Amsterdam, I visited Main Studio, where I was really inspired by the editorial work produced by the studio. Main Studio was founded by Edwin van Gelder in 2005. I found the visit to the studio inspirational, as seeing the vast amount of work created by Edwin and his team allowed me to see how far you can push work to achieve the best outcome. He has gone on to win many awards and collaborations for his editorial books.

Books that have been designed by Main Studio host so many unique ideas and techniques. Each project roots from deep research and understanding of the topic. The strong and considered use of typography paired with layout makes for books that are highly collectable. The approaches that are used are next-level thinking into what can be done with typography and editorial layouts. 

Working with print is something that inspires me. Seeing how creative solutions such as folds, duplex books and material choices matter and enhance the printed outcome.
