Working with Clients - Suki Tea Brief
Working on the Suki Tea brief gave me a good insight into what it’s like to design with a real client in mind. We were asked to create concepts for a free newspaper that would be distributed in places where Suki Tea is sold. Even though it was sponsored by them, it didn’t have to fully follow their brand, which I found interesting as it gave more freedom while still needing to feel appropriate to the setting.
What I found most useful was working within a set brief. It made me think more about my decisions instead of just designing freely. I had to consider things like tone, messaging, and how someone would actually pick up and read the newspaper in a real environment, which made the project feel more realistic.
Developing the newspaper also made me think more about editorial design. I had to focus on layout, hierarchy, pacing, and how content flows across pages. It wasn’t just about how it looked but how it would be experienced.
Overall, the project made me more aware of how to balance creativity with constraints. It showed me that having a brief doesn’t limit ideas but can actually help guide them in a more considered way.
